Project category: Projects
Project time span: December 2015 – July 2017
On February 2016, construction of a new high-rise building started at the cross-section of the roads Tivolska ana Slovenska ulica in Ljubljana. The building rises 81.50 m above ground level and is 100 m tall comprising the upper point of the antenna tower, the pavement of the lower 4th basement is envisaged at ‐12,10 m and the lowest marked dimension of the foundation is at -15,70 m. The building has 4 basements, a ground floor and 21 floors; 26 floors in total. The floor size of the building is 32.5 x 23.00 m at the contact with land. The total surface area of the building is approx. 18,000 m2. The building is intended for hotel activities with accompanying programmes, i.e. garage on the 4th basement level, technical floors, restaurant, etc.
The new hotel will be the tallest and at the same time the most attractive building on the centre of Ljubljana. It will consist of 165 rooms, two banquet halls for 500 guests, several conference halls, a presidential suite, a wellness centre with a pool and a fitness centre. A restaurant that will offer guests a panoramic view on Ljubljana will be located at the highest, 21st floor of the hotel.
The building will present a great challenge to engineers, the supervisor as well as the contractor. The most distinctive feature is, of course, the construction on a very confined space in terms of organising the building site and a constant surrounding traffic in the capital city centre. The building had to be constructed in such a confined space and within a short time limit: the structure in 9 months or 7 days for a single overground floor.
